WiT Survey Report

Demographics

Number of Responses

The survey target group was women who do not accept gender identity ideology and assert that sex alone is the marker for what constitutes a woman or a man.

One of the demographic questions related to sex and asked if the respondent was female. Those who said they were not female amounted to 33 and were excluded from the analysis and report. A much larger group was respondents who left this question blank. Since it was not possible to know if they were women and belonged to the target group, they were also excluded.

24 respondents stated they had no concerns about any aspect of gender identity ideology and were fully in support of it. These too were removed as they did not belong to the target group.

After removing respondents who could not be verified as belonging to the target group, 2943 survey respondents remained for analysis.

Total number of surveys completed by the target group and included in the report: 2,943

Question 85: Would you like to say more about your disability?

Women reported living with a wide range of disabilities and/or health conditions. Where women referred to mental health conditions, many identified causation, such as child abuse, rape and domestic violence. Others reported living with long term physical health problems, sometimes citing this as a causation of their mental health problems, therefore a significant number of respondents reported living with a combination of both mental health and physical health conditions.

These are conditions respondents reported living with:

Of the 1017 women who reported living with a disability, 452 specified an existing mental health difficulty. This includes women who experience substance misuse. Autism is also included under mental health although the report recognises that it is, rather, more widely understood to be a neurodevelopmental difference.

A number of women mentioned experiencing suicidal ideation, previous suicide attempts and/or self-harm.

Where women mentioned pre-existing mental health difficulties, they identified causation, e.g.:

“PTSD from military service and sexual trauma.”

“C-PTSD due to child abuse and domestic violence/rape.”

“PTSD and anxiety as a result of childhood sexual abuse.”

“C-PTSD from DV/gaslighting; anxiety.”

“Suffered depression and anxiety since 11 years old, due to violent and sexually abusive males in my family.”

“PTSD from sexual abuse, including rape by “trans women.”

“PTSD from childhood domestic violence.”

“C-PTSD pursuant to incest.”

“PTSD, due to sexual assaults in childhood and several hundred rapes through a 21 year marriage.”

“I have a history of ME [Myalgic encephalomyelitis]. I was diagnosed in the wake of discovering my husband was AGP. I also have a history of depressive illness which is linked to my early abuse, rape and abduction. I received no therapy or counselling. In the sixties, no one ever offered me any.”

“I have complex PTSD and back problems from Domestic Abuse.”

“Physical and emotional as a result of incest and violence as child.”

“Depression and anxiety. I have had Body Dysmorphic Disorder. I believed I was ugly and unattractive. I now accept this was because my look does not conform to current beauty standards.”

“ADHD and PTSD from a drunk man breaking into my home in the middle of the night.”

“PTSD and permanent muscle damage from domestic abuse by a male partner.”

“PTSD from early childhood sexual abuse by a male relative in a position of trust; raped at 14 at church, again at 24 by my friends BF (she shunned me) again with a knife at 34.”

“Abuse by my ex, husband, a good guy on the surface. Depression.”

“I have mental health challenges arising from domestic abuse and experiences in the sex trade.”

“PTSD due to extreme abuse by a trans identified male.”

Women gave details of how their disability presents and impacts on them. Examples are:

“I don’t know that I’d call it a disability but I have fairly severe social anxiety which has interfered a lot with my working life and social life. The abuse awaiting anyone who dares question gender ideology did not help that.”

“I have a history of anxiety and depression that was not taken into account when I transition.”

“It is a life-threatening, life-limiting illness. I was born with it and it has and will affect me all my life.”

“I don’t feel I have a disability necessarily but I live with the after effects of complex – post traumatic stress disorder. This issue has been very destabilizing to me because of that. I notice that many of the women speaking out on this issue have PTSD/c-PTSD. We recognize the boundary violations for the abuse that they are.”

“I have COPD, ME [Myalgic Encephalomyelitis] and IBS – all of which impact my ability to socialise and work and all of which contribute to my specific needs when outside my home. I have suffered from depression since my mid-teens.”

“ASD. Being autistic means I am very direct and cannot realistically pretend sex does not exist’

“Soon to be terminal.”

Women spoke of how their existing disability is affected by stress, including stress caused by gender ideology and/or the consequences of dissenting from GI:

“My disability is exacerbated by stress.”

“Mental health condition, which used to be well-managed, but which has been VERY difficult to manage due to my hounding the last three years.”

“I now have very bad anxiety which limits my world very much. But even then, political reps come to my doorstep with the rape apologists twaw.”

“I have CFS/ME [Chronic Fatigue syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis]. My energy levels have been poorer due to the stress of gender ideology.”

“I have PTSD, so these issues affect me directly on that front. I also have ADHD and am GNC, so I relate to the girls with neurodevelopmental disorders who are now being sucked into the trans movement.”

“I selected no as do not consider it a disability but struggle with mental health – anxiety, depression & menstrual cycle related problems, all exacerbated by stress of being targeted and possessing gender critical views.”

“I have diagnosis of PMDD [Premenstrual dysphoric disorder]. As a direct result of being rejected by my daughter I have diagnoses of situational depression and C-PTSD.’

“I’ve had anxiety and depression for most of my life – including suicidal tendencies and self-harm. This was largely due to misogynistic treatment I received when I was younger and I’ve been in therapy/taking medication for a while to help with this and was getting better.  Gender ideology sent me in a negative mental health spiral and I ended up self-harming for the first time in years.  It’s the same misogynistic bs that I grew up with but with progressive wording as wrapping paper.  Being told by strangers online and people I knew in person that me dying might be best for the happiness of other people was also not helpful.  Gender ideology is a very hateful movement.”

“I live with crippling anxiety which has been exacerbated by the gender issue. I no longer feel safe in society or able to complain or do something about this. I feel oppressed for the first time in my life.”

“I have complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from multiple violent sexual assaults from different males in different contexts, at different stages of my life. I have lost an eye due to male violence.  I am part sighted.  I have lost my health, my career, my income, my standing in my home town.  I had to move multiple times due to being stalked by a healthcare worker who raped me repeatedly when I was very unwell & he was supposed to be supporting me.  I left behind all my friends, my community.  It leaves me isolated & lonely.  It’s hard to make friends & integrate with the big, unexplained gap I have in my life.”
